Hot air ballooning has changed very little in the past 200 years. Based on the principal that hot air rises, heating and cooling the air inside the balloon causes it to rise and descend. The basket or (gondola) is made of the traditional wicker and supports a modern stainless steel burner capable of putting out more than 28 million B.T.U.'S and when attached to the balloon it stands over 90' feet in height and more than 70' feet in diameter and is why it has earned the nick-name "GENTLE GIANT".
