Some activities at Naval Air Station Barbers Point

Even though the closing ceremony was held on 1 July 1999, Naval Air Station Barbers Point officially closed on 2 July 1999.  The base was commissioned on 15 April 1942.

The closing ceremony was held on 1 July 1999 at 0900 on the parade field between Building #1 and the Chapel.

On July 1, 1999 at approximately 9:30 a.m. the colors at Naval Air Station Barbers Point were lowered for the last time.

Right:  Carl and Capt. Bob Kernan.  Capt. Kernan was the last commanding officer at NAS Barbers Point.  He is now assigned to NATO in Belgium.
