Senor Flavio Barrena relocated
to Lima from the northern city of Cajamarca in the early 1950's.
He gained
employment with the largest tack supplier in all of Peru Casa
La Llamita because his prior skills with horses, wood and metal.
When the owner of Casa La Llamita passed away in the 1970's the
business went with him. A new company Talabarteria Barrena was
founded by Flavio the former general manager of Casa Llamita.
As artisan Barrena prospered, and Flavio's children grew into
adulthood time had come for a new company; "Flavio Barrena
and Sons" to be incorporated with Alberto,
Maria and Martha.
Flavio retired in the 1990's as president of Peru's largest tack
supplier, a job well done!.Today the children and grand children
of Flavio carry on the tradition of Flavio Barrena and Sons each
with a life long love and skill in the craft.
