ToyFare's glow-in-dark
Homer Simpson figure

Glow-in-the-dark Homer figure
ToyFare releases exclusive variation
This glow-in-the-dark Homer Simpson talking action figure from Playmates Toys was offered exclusively by ToyFare magazine and stands to become one of the most coveted of all Simpsons figures.

The glowing Homer is a variant of one included with the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant playset released in February 2000 by Playmates. The new figure also features the removable hood, clamp and "radioactive" carbon rod. The figure and rod glow after exposure to sunlight.

Like the other "talking" action figures from the toy company, it activates several phrases when plugged into a compatible playset: the living room, the nuclear power plant, Kwik-E-Mart and Springfield Elementary.

The figure was originally offered in ToyFare's issue No. 37, which featured a coupon to purchase this limited edition. However, the magazine in October 2000 began allowing people to order the figure for $11.99 each from the magazine's Web site. However, the site within a few days announced it had sold out.
