The Road Ahead...

What happens to my cabriolet depends greatly on my financial future. Ideally I would love to do a complete restoration of this car (including a 16V engine swap). Since I am in the planning stages right now I will outline my "ideal" project. Of course I may not follow these steps exactly. I am not going to pass up a chance to buy GLI Recaro seats if I am still in Phase 1.

I welcome everyone's input on this plan. I am still rather inexperienced at the prospect of swapping engines etc. Please email me if you have something to say.

Key:    to do     completed

Phase 1 - Inception
Issue identification (what need's fixing, etc.)
  Needed repairs and minor parts
  Stereo installation
  Cleaning and detailing
  Restoration and modification planning

Phase 2 - Acquiring Parts
Body kit, bumpers, etc. (for 88-93)
Black seating (Recaro if possible, Corrado or Cab also, black)
Wheels (VW Stock 14 x 6 alloy wheels)
Black convertible top (cloth if possible - $$$)
  Headliner
  Carpet kit
2.0 liter 16V engine and transmission (5-spd, low-miles or rebuilt)
Performance suspension package (sway bars, coils, struts, etc.)
  Misc. parts

Phase 3 - Disassembly
Remove interior parts (seats, carpet, trim, etc.)
Remove exterior parts (bumpers, moldings, trim, etc.)
Remove mechanical parts (engine, battery, radiator, etc.)

Phase 4 - Body and Paint
Strip car of current paint and primer
Completely repaint car Nebio Blue (passat color)
  Paint body kit
  Install body kit
  Paint wheel centers (if applicable)

Phase 5 - Assemble Car
  Install mechanical parts
  Install exterior parts
  Install interior parts
  Final QC check

Final Project may look sorta, something-like this:

...but color should appear more like this Passat:
