Salisbury Steak
- 1½ lb. lean ground beef
- 1c.finely chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- ½ c cooked rice(note rice is used as a binder you can also use bread crumbs instead of rice)
- ¼ tea. pepper
- 1 egg
- 2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 2 tbl. Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tea. salt
- 2 13oz cans beef broth (no salt added if you like)
- 3tbls. water
- 2tbls. cornstarch
Combine first 6 ingredients in a bowl,mix well. Divide into 6 equal portions, shaping each into a 1 inch thich patty.
Coat a hot skillet with oil and cook patties 5 min. on each side. Drain on paper towels and set aside. Remove fat form skillet leaving about 1 spoon. Add mushrooms and cook for 3 min. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and broth cook for 10 min. Return patties to skillet, cover and reduce heat, simmer 20 min. Place patties on platter and keep warm. Combine water and cornstarch, add to broth mixture stirring well. Bring mixture to a boil and cook 1 min. Serve over patties. You should have enough gravy to put over your Garlic Mashed potatoes :{D
