My name is Gena Annette Banks-Bond and I was born on Ground Hogs Day 1984 to Dena Banks and Geno Bond. I was an honor roll student at Rippon Middle School, but I'm now a freshman at the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. Because this school year will be an academically challenging one, I won't have time to dedicate to updating my page. My mother Dena has volunteered to take over for awhile (don't worry, I'll be back!). I'd like to thank everyone that has complimented my work, I hope that I've been able to help others in researching their ancestors and or inspired some young person to begin researching their family history. Knowledge about whom and where I came from, has been inspirational and rewarding. It has given me a greater appreciation for my ancestors and what they went through enabling me to get to where I am today.
In the future, I'll begin researching my paternal English roots (surnames Newby & Glover) when I travel to England with my grandmother to her native country next year. I'll also begin researching my brother's ancestors (surnames Jackson, Foote, Carter & Alexander). Stay tuned...
My hobbies include genealogy and collecting dolls. My favorite pastime activities are listening to music, reading, playing my flute, talking on the phone to my friends, shopping, surfing the net, and spending time with my little brothers Evan & Ryan.
I have been actively researching my family history for almost two years. Information contained here dates as far back as the early 1800's and is derived from, Prince William County, Alexandria City & Fairfax County court documents, census records & oral interviews with my older relatives, the oldest living ancestor being Annie Mae Thomas Henderson Kendall Williams. Aunt "Teeny" was born July 3, 1893 in Prince William County, VA, to George W. Thomas and Nancy Sims Thomas, my great-great-great grandparents.
This page will be continually updated, as more information is uncovered.
