Bucks County is located
northeast of Philadelphia in southeastern Pennsylvania and has a population of
approximately 560,000. The communications center in Bucks is the largest combined 911
facility in the state of Pennsylvania and the sixth largest in the nation. From 18 radio
consoles we serve 54 townships and boroughs, with 46 police departments, more than 100
volunteer fire departments and rescue squads, the county sheriff, the district attorney's
detective division, state and county park rangers and others. In addition to the 19 radio
consoles the room has 5 call taker stations. There are twenty five 911 lines, over one
hundred 7 digit lines, including TDD/TTY lines for the speech and hearing impaired. In
1998 Bucks County Radio handled approximately one million calls.
