British Cactus and Succulent Society
We are a local branch of the National Society which holds monthly meetings in Northampton with members from west Northamptonshire and the Milton Keynes area. We have guest speakers, slide presentations, quizzes, demonstrations, open days at members collections and other social events.
Our members also participate in events organised by Zone 6, the thriving South Midlands Zone of the National Society.
At our meetings we offer plants and pots for sale. For society members there is an extensive lending library with a wide selection of books and journals. We produce a magazine three (or four) times a year and a monthly bulletin to keep you in touch with branch events and other topical matters of interest.
Members of other branches of the BCSS and visitors are welcome at our meetings.
We hope that you will read this web page and make contact with others in the area who are interested in growing cacti and other succulent plants.

Cactus and Succulent Plant Mall Always a great place to start an evenings surfing. When (if!) you read that lot save the Change Log in your favourites to see what's new.
Planning a convention? Is your BCSS branch planning a convention or similar major event? Years ago our branch tackled this problem and we have used our checklist many times since. You can access this as a word document and adapt it as you need. Click convention.doc If this format is unsuitable you can email Trev_BCSSNMK@aol.com.
Galleria Carnivora Not, as you will immediately realise, a cactus or succulent site but fun and very well done. The site is naturally 'non-smoking' (this is, after all, California - I think; at least it is always sunny when I go there), so there are no health risks when visiting. Many of the plants will grow very well with real plants, (err.... cacti and succulents that is.) We published a review of CPs (suitable for growing with cacti) in our newsletter in 1992. Would you like to delve the archives?
Indexes to BCSS and Bradleya Journals (Or some say indices) Insomniacs should select soft music on their CD drive, click in, read on and drop off.......zzzzzzzz. However for any member of the BCSS who wants to find information on a plant start here. These indexes have been available to members of the Northampton and Milton Keynes Branch of the B.C.S.S. for some years but we thought they might be of wider interest. Save or browse. Please help yourself!
