Cumulative Indexes to BCSS Journals and Bradleya

INTRODUCTION

These indexes were compiled to suit my personal need for references to plants mentioned in the journals of the B.C.S.S. and Bradleya and I have been updating them yearly. My main requirement was for an index to the specific names of the plants that I was growing or interested in. However, who would know what I might require in the future?

When compiling the Journal Index, if a plant had a Latin name I mostly included it, and always if there was a picture. The main deliberate omissions are from very minor mentions in habitat or garden articles. If there was a plant name in the title of an article this was included with the name heading the reference.

While I was extracting this information, (and enjoying re-reading many of the articles,) I decided to reference mentions of hardy plants and foreign geographical locations. These last were missing from yearly indexes. Hardy plants are a personal interest and the place references are to help with my holiday planning. (I can dream!) I am afraid that if you require an index to include everything, including authors, shows, ISI numbers, conventions and the date of the Judges' Course next year you must peruse all the official, annual indexes. Or you could compile your own!

The Bradleya Index is very different, I was being overwhelmed by names! Only plants with a description, a picture or an important (mostly taxonomic) statement are included. It will be worth an additional search for a paper on the genus and especially a species checklist. An axe was taken to some of the titles, I hope they still make sense.

Articles are shown in bold, as are the volumes, pages in plain type and picture references are underlined. Whether online or using a saved version, Ctrl + F with a few key letters from the species or genus should get you there. Should you notice omissions, or worse any mistakes, please let me know. (trevorwray@aol.com) I can hardly say good reading, but I hope you find these indexes useful.
