Robby
HC HTCh MACH UACHX Robby was born as part of a litter of 6 puppies on November 10, 2000. His puppy name was Summit. His mother is U-AgII U-CD Oelamp's Encore CDX OA OAJ NAC. His father is CH MACH Pikkupaimenen Dream Catcher CD. His breeder is Laura Kincaid of Oelamp Border Collies. Once again I seem to have ended up taking the last remaining puppy in a litter. Robby was the only male in this litter, and was the only unclaimed puppy at the age of 10 weeks. I had watched this litter since they were born, and was very impressed with Robby's personality. I couldn't believe he was the last one left, and finally decided I would be foolish to pass him up. Robby is bold and outgoing - he loves to explore new places and meet new people and is just generally a happy guy. He is also incredibly sweet. If you rub his ears he'll lean against your hand and close his eyes in pure bliss. Robby is only the second serious herding dog that I've trained. Robby took a while to turn on at first due a short attention span, but now is showing a good ability for reading the stock, covering, and keeping the group together. He'll do outruns of any distance, as long as he knows there's sheep out there. Some of my favorite memories of trialing him are his B course and pronovice runs, when I send him on the outrun and just watch him open up and run wide and get behind the sheep with no help from me. His natural inclination to turn out square on his flanks and work with good distance from the stock has made him a pleasure to train and helps him to handle very light stock in a nice manner. He sometimes lacks enough 'push' with stubborn sheep, but has been a great dog for me to learn on. Robby completed his AKC Herding Started title in April/May of 2003 with some nice scores, and that year also completed his AHBA HRD-I and HRD-II sheep titles and his HTD-I title on sheep and on ducks, again with very nice scores. He earned his AKC Intermediate A sheep title in three straight trials (one of these with a Reserve High in Trial and all with very nice scores), then two weekends after finishing his Intermediate title, he earned all three legs of his Advanced A sheep title in one weekend in May 2004. In June 2004, within the space of two weekends, he completed his HRD-IIIs , HTD-IIIs and HTD-IIId titles and earned 5 of the 10 points needed for an AHBA herding championship. He finished both his AKC HC and AHBA HTCh in June 2005. Robby competed in his first USBCHA Novice trial in June 2004, and earned a 4th place out of 15 dogs, completed the course, and penned his sheep. We went on to several more novice trials where he routinely placed between 3rd and 5th. We have competed twice in Pronovice (and plan to do more) - his outruns were very nice but the driving needs some work on those kinds of distances. Robby's agility training is coming along well. He started off a little slow in the beginning, but now is within a couple second's time of my two older 'speed demon' border collies. He finished his Open Agility (OA) and Open JWW (OAJ) titles on the same day in October 2002, just short of his second birthday. He completed his AX and AXJ before the age of 3, his MACH at 4 years old, and qualified for the 2005 and 2006 AKC Nationals. He completed his UKC Championship (ACH) and in March 2004 completed the UKC ACHX title. He finished his UKC career with a bang - in his last weekend of UKC trialing he earned three 200's, three first places, High Combined, and High in Trial all in one day.
