Table Rock Wilderness

The 6,028 acre Table Rock Wilderness Area was added to the National Wilderness System in 1984. It is the last large pristine forest area in the Molalla River drainage. The area includes steep rugged terrain, towering basalt cliffs, far reaching views, and a wide variety of plants and wildlife. The highest point in the wilderness area is the 4,881 foot summit of Table Rock. Neaby Rooster Rock's summit elevation is 4,624 feet.

Table Rock Wilderness is located 19 miles south of the community of Molalla. To find the wilderness, follow signs from the east end of Molalla to Feyer Park. From Feyer Park, turn right onto South Dickie Prairie Road. Travel south on South Dickie Prairie Road to Glen Avon, where a right turn produces a bridge that crosses over the Molalla River. Continue to travel south for approximately another 12 miles to the junction of Middle Fork and Copper Creek Roads. Do not cross the bridge. Turn left onto Middle Fork Road and follow signs to reach the trail access parking area. From the parking area, you will need to hike nearly a mile to reach the old trailhead.

Table Rock Wilderness Area is administered by the BLM. You may request additional information from them at the following address and phone number:

To reach the trailhead marker requires the better part of a mile hike, mostly up an old road, from the parking area. The distance from the trailhead marker to the summit is approximately 2.3 miles with an elevation gain of about 1,000 feet.

This is the cliff face and the boulder field on the north side of Table Rock. The trail crosses the boulder field and the footing can be a bit treacherous in places. Once beyond this area, the rest of the trail is in much better condition.
