Tamanawas Falls - Mt. Hood

The hike to Tamanawas Falls begins from a parking area along Oregon Hwy 35 on the east side of Mt. Hood. With only 400 feet of elevation gain and a round trip distance of less than four miles, the scenery to effort ratio is hard to beat.

On this hike, Cold Springs Creek is never far away.

Trinitie crosses one of four footbridges along the trail.

There are several places where hikers can find easy access to scenic streamside settings; perfect spots for a few photos, a snack break, or just a chance to stop and enjoy the incredible natural surroundings.

Trinitie stands on the final bridge that crosses Cold Springs Creek prior to reaching Tamanawas Falls. A small series of switchbacks beyond the bridge provided this photographic viewpoint.

While Tamanawas Falls is the target destination of the hike, Cold Springs Creek is well worth the excursion on its own.

Tamanawas Falls takes a hundred foot plunge and provides an impressive show at any time of the year.
