Ramona Falls Loop and
Yocum Ridge - Mt. Hood

Ramona Creek flows along side much of the trail on the more northern half of the Ramona Falls loop.

Moss covered stream banks and logs add to the sense of serenity that begins with the trickling sounds of water.

Ramona Falls cascades down the fractured basalt cliff.

Yocum Ridge trail crosses one of several rock slides.

A large alpine meadow spreads out before you just as you get the first full view of the Mt. Hood summit and Reid Glacier.

A closer view of Mt. Hood's western face.

On a sunny afternoon you will be treated to the frequent cracking and popping of frozen earth and ice followed by the sound of tumbling rocks.

From the viewpoint, you have the opportunity to witness the birth of the Sandy River. You can easily trace it from its source, Reid Glacier, down the steep slope of the mountain and into the canyon far below. Sometimes flowing or cascading in the open and sometimes disappearing under more packed snow and ice.

Across the canyon, the Paradise Park area can be seen.

Hundreds of feet below, the Sandy River begins to flow.
