Periodical Literature

In addition to the following magazines and newsletters, the Brain Injury Association also receives the newsletters from other state associations.

Magazines

"Active Living" - The health, fitness and recreation magazine for people with a disability. "Active Living" gives the latest information about places to go, activities and equipment.

"Brain Injury Source" - This magazine offers current information on treatment, rehabilitation, family issues, legal advice and educational information. It offers articles on the latest research on brain injuries for medical workers, educators, rehabilitation professionals and survivors and their families.

"Exceptional Parent" - A magazine which provides support to the parent of a child with disabilities and special health needs. Ideas and experiences are shared so parents, professionals, people with disabilities and other advocates can learn from one another and better collaborate to serve all children and families.

"SCI Life" - This magazine is dedicated to the presentation of news concerning people with spinal cord injuries caused by trauma or disease. It is a publication of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association.



Newsletters

"Alliance" - This is published by the National Transition Alliance whose mission is to ensure that youth with disabilities, including those with severe disabilities, acquire knowledge and skills and receive services and supports necessary to achieve successful school outcomes.

"Brain Injury Update"- A newsletter that is published by HDI publishers for distribution to professionals who provide health care services to persons with a brain injury and their families.

"Building Safe Communities" - This publication of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provides articles to help build community programs to promote safety and prevent traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

"Disability International" - This is a publication by Disabled Peoples' International which is a coalition of organizations of disabled people with over 120 national affiliates. The newsletter contains articles which are of interest to the international disability community.

"Disability Resources Monthly" - This newsletter monitors, reviews and reports on resources for independent living. It promotes and improves awareness, availability and accessibility of information to help people with disabilities live, learn, love, work and play independently.

"Health Advocacy News" - Articles on research, analysis, grassroots organizing and lobbying to improve health policy and the delivery of services are included in this newsletter. It is published by the Mississippi Health Advocacy Program.

"Join Together"- This newsletter provides national resources for communities to fight substance abuse which is a factor in many accidents which cause traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

"The Neurolaw Letter" - This is a monthly newsletter for distribution to attorneys and professionals who provide services to survivors of brain injury and spinal cord injury and their families. It provides practice points, trial techniques, marketing strategies and hands-on tips that are of immediate benefit to practitioners in this emerging area of jurisprudence. It is the only publication devoted to brain injury litigation. HDI Publishers of the Brain Injury Association,, Inc.

" The Open Door" - "The Open Door" is a publication of the Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities which is dedicated to the empowerment of all people with disabilities.

"Rehab Update" - This publication gives information to parents of children who have children who have disabilities due to traumatic injury.
