Volunteers are the cornerstone of BAM!. All parents are automatic members of the Parent Advisory Committee and we hope all our parents will be active participants in our program.  Volunteers perform a variety of tasks ranging from chairing PAC committees, preparing for team events, organizing fundraisers and arranging team parties. With the wide variety of volunteering possibilities, everyone can find their own niche to assist the team. 100% parent participation is BAM!’s expectation, so sign up early for jobs that interest you.

Executive Board:  The members of the BAM! Executive Board are volunteers working on the general direction of the program and its smooth operation.  This Board consists of the head coaches, team manager, team captains, legal advisor, team president, team vice-president, team accountant, and the parent advisory committee chairpersons.  Some of the functions of the Executive Board are providing the overall direction for the club, executing contracts, advising on the legal obligations of the program, overseeing finances, etc.

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC):  All BAM! parents are automatically members of the Parent Advisory Committee.  The PAC provides the extra power we need to have a great swim club.  The PAC chairpersons are also members of the Executive Board.  PAC chairpersons decide which committees are needed at the beginning of the year.  All committees are responsible for recruiting volunteers, organizing food for events, etc.  We strongly recommend our parents become active members of BAM!, either by participating in the committees listed below, by signing up for specific activities,  or by responding to calls for assistance from committee members.

• Annual Banquet - handles all aspects of the Banquet, site selection, catering, etc.  Works with Awards Committee on award distribution.
• Travel - organizes team travel for away meets, meals, itineraries, etc.
• Family Fundraising - works to find effective fundraisers and runs all fundraising campaigns, Swimathon, raffle, etc.
• Corporate Fundraising - recruits and organizes the team’s corporate sponsors and corporate volunteer opportunities, includes Adopt-A-Swimmer program.
• Events - organizes recreational activities, parties, etc. (except Banquet)
• Awards - purchases, distributes, and inventories awards for the Annual Banquet and other team events.  Also, motivational awards given throughout the year.
• Publicity - works on advertising, recruitment campaigns, etc.

Family Fundraising:  Every family must raise a minimum of $150 over the course of the year, as stipulated in the “Terms and Conditions for Participation” that every family must sign when their child joins BAM!.  Fundraising monies are needed to help cover the high cost of pool rental (almost $30,000 per year) at the facilities we use.  One of our fundraising campaigns is our annual Swimathon, which is similar to a Walkathon. We always seek other effective campaigns. We need your ideas and help.

Corporate Fundraising:  We are looking for corporate sponsors.  Parents have been helpful to us in gaining corporate sponsorship, and we ask that this continue.  One of our ideas is an Adopt-A-Swimmer program that would enable us to give need-based scholarships:  $1000 would pay for one swimmer’s entire costs for the year.  We believe this campaign will appeal to corporations as it directly benefits children.  We are non-profit, so donations are tax-deductible.
