RAGDOLL KITTENS BY FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Current Pictures and available KITTENS

We are small cattery that has been breeding  Ragdoll kittens in San Diego for nearly a decade. We are blessed with a large Frost Bi-color Ragdoll male that doesn't spray so we have no need to cage any of our pets. His size and sweet disposition are passed along to his kittens. The Bi-colors he sires also possess his striking face blaze.

Once litter boxed trained and weaned, our Ragdoll babies have the run of the house. With Mom, and Dad and the help of the aunts and uncles, the kittens are socialized, groomed and taught proper scratching post usage. Every ragdoll kitten is reared as if it were a new addition to our own growing family. From our home to yours, our kittens make good First Impressions.

HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION

The Ragdoll is believed to have originated in California around 1965 with a white Persion, a Birman and a Burmese. Kittens from these breedings were carefully line-bred to give us these large, beautiful Ragdolls which seem to have combined most of their ancestors' best traits. The name RAGDOLL came about because of the cats ability to relax like a child's toy ragdoll.

Ragdolls have three basic patterns:

1. Bi-COLOR White inverted "V" in mask, white legs, feet, ruff and stomach. Point colored ears and tail, nose and paw pads pink.

2. COLORPOINT Point colored mask, ears, feet, tail, nose and paw pads. A colorpoint has no white whatsoever.

3. MITTED Point colored mask, ears, legs with white mittens on the front feet and white boots on the back feet. White chin is required, also white ruff  and stomach. Paw pads are pink.

All Ragdolls have blue eyes and are available in four point colors: seal, chocolate, blue and frost. Most Ragdolls have unique personalities. Ragdolls are loving placid and easy-going--basically quiet cats, but very playful. They make wonderful house or apartment cats since they are very intelligent and easily trained. Ragdolls have a special temperment, sweet and docile, and they are not fighters. Ragdolls display many characteristics usually attributed to dogs: devotion, paying attention to what you're doing, following you everywhere, etc. Ragdolls have the unique characteristic of going limp (when they so desire) in your arms when picked up. They seem to enjoy being held like a baby, habitually lie on their backs legs flattened out and their front legs sticking straight up in the air. The Ragdoll's coat is rabbit-like, medium to very long, silky and never mats, even if you don't have much time to brush them. We call them the "laid-back, low maintenance cats". Ragdoll kittens are born white with their color and patterns starting to show when about ten days old. The Ragdolls full color and size is not developed until they are between two and three years of age. A neutered Ragdoll male will weigh 15-18 pounds and be 3 feet long. A spayed female would be about 5 pounds lighter.
