Bill Lewis' Grappling Video Reviews

Dear Tape Companies:
"Two Bill Lewis's are two too many"

It appears that a guy by the name of Ross Lewis (no relation whatsoever) has taken it upon himself to write to tape companies pretending to be me. It just appears to be a swindle to get free tapes. I have seen a lot stranger things than this. I figured I would let everyone know. Best of luck Ross in your future endeavors. Btw, the only e-mail address I have is BJJ33@aol.com. If you get any letter like this in the future, drop me a line. Or, if you know anything about the Ross Lewis that lives at the address below, let me know. Thanks.

Bill Lewis (Version 1.0)

Here is the bogus letter that was forwarded to me:

Hello,

My name is Bill Lewis. I'm a writer who specializes in the martial arts. You may have seen some of my articles in various martial arts magazines such as Black Belt, Inside Karate and others. Also I have a website at http://bjj.org/lewis/ where I review grappling video tapes, books and periodicals.

The reason I am contacting you is that I plan to expand my website even more by adding new reviews and other options. I am also discussing a monthly video review feature in a prominent martial arts magazine. What I am wondering is if you would be interested in having any of your company's videos evaluated by me. Let me say that I do an honest and totally unbiased review. I have no financial interest in this and pride myself on my professionalism. If you take a look at my website you will see this. Yes, it is true that I do give bad reviews, but only when I feel they are deserved. I explain my reasons and stand by them.

I have gotten many positive comments from my reviews from readers who are looking to purchase videos and companies themselves. Several companies have contacted me and let me know that they received quite a few orders based on what someone has read on my site. I don't want to get into an ego stroke session, but I do receive a lot of hits on my site weekly (many due to my host http://bjj.org) and this results in a lot of exposure and increased sales for the series that I review.

Now if you are interested I suggest you view my website and get back to me if you are interested in having any of your videos or books reviewed by an honest professional. All submissions will be featured on my website and in addition could possibly be in my upcoming magazine column. If you choose to then please send any products to

Please keep in mind that my website is dedicated to grappling products. I will review any submissions at my earliest convenience and afterwards all items can be returned if you so desire. Also let me know if you would agree to have the review shown in my upcoming magazine column. If so then I will send you a copy of the review for you to look over prior to it being submitted (this is not the case for website reviews). Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at bill_lewis_2000@yahoo.com (this is my personal email address and is checked daily. Thank you for your time.
