Once the fun job of trenching was done, crusher ballast was wheeled around to the back yard and dumped in the trench. We then tamped it down and rough leveled using T'd 2x4's and a torpedo level.

On the left you'll note a beautiful milk jug, which is doing the job of covering my pvc pipe and wiring which was run prior to the subroadbed.

Remember I said why fight mother nature? Instead, fight rocks in the ground! LOL
I deepened the natural washes and brought in gravel and later in construction wound up moving it to other areas... but you get the idea here.

Also, I put in a small retaining wall along the high side of the track. The MAIN reason was actually to divert the water that flows down hill into the gullies and natural washes.

I milled standard 1 x 6 Western Cedar boards to 1/4" x 3/4" for the walls. Prior to dropping the crusher in the trench, I made the water diversion walls that will keep the crusher where it belongs... in the trench.

Oh and if you've got a few weeks before you start planting, you might want to go ahead and spray grass and weed killer (CAREFULLY) over where the crusher will be laid down.
