This old photo was labeled "Grandma Ross" and for the longest time, I had no idea who it was! Then it was discovered that my gg-grandmother, Bessie B. Morrill, had remarried after the death of her first husband, Elmeron Butler (b. Abt. 02 Dec 1848 in North Hero, Grand Isle, Vermont, d. 22 Apr 1881 in Kane County, IL) to a man named Hugh Ross.

Bessie's father was Frederick Stephen Morrill, b. 1825 in Strafford, Orange, Vermont. He was a farmer, Justice of the Peace, and Postmaster for many years for Blackberry Station in Kane County Illinois. He married Lucinda Cleveland Perry (b. 13 May 1828 in New York and d. 08 Aug 1916 and is buried in the Kaneville Cemetery, Kane County, IL) on 08 Nov 1847 in Kane County, Illinois.Frederick died in 1897 in Kane County Illinois. We have not yet found where he is buried.
