Trip Through The Studebaker Factory - 1950

These are buildings 33, 34, 35 (built in (1890) & 108 (1942).  These were the home of the Avanti Motor Corp. (Avanti II)

This is where the body assembly line ran on the 5th floor of the 84 Bldg. (1923)

The red brick buildings in the center are 47 (1897) & 48 (1893) and were built to manufacture harness and saddle. on each end are additions 47A  and 48A (1922).  This is where the Studebaker Avanti was assembled along with trucks and convertibles.

The Detroit Studebaker Plant - Click Here to see The Studebaker Piquette Avenue Plant produced cars at this plant from 1910 through 1928.  Growing from this wood-beamed plant, Studebaker became a major automaker noted being ahead of its times with its innovative designs.

Studebaker Today (1987) a video tape showing the buildings that remained in the  South Bend Factory complex In 1987.  Many have now been demolished and others are scheduled to go down soon!!!!
