FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

You've finished your book.

You've invested months and even years of time, energy, commitment, blood, sweat, and tears. Now it's time to send your masterpiece off to agents and editors, right?

Not so fast. The harsh reality of today's publishing market is that, all things being equal, a well-polished, professional-looking manuscript is the manuscript that will be chosen for representation or publication. In such a cutthroat market, editors are simply not able to spend precious time and resources correcting typographical errors or doctoring sluggish narrative and flat dialogue, much less rewriting entire scenes or chapters. The less editorial assistance a manuscript needs before publication, the better its chances of ending up on the shelves of the local Barnes & Noble.

Period.

That said, I don't think it alarmist to say that a professional "second  set of eyes" could very well be the difference between acceptance and rejection in today's market. We may not like it, but that doesn't make it any less a reality.

I cannot guarantee publication. I am not an agent or a publisher. But I can help you increase your chances of being "the one"--the one author some literary agent or editor chooses to represent or publish this year. I am a professional copy editor and writer who understands what goes into a book from both a creative and a business standpoint. It may seem shallow for an agent or publisher to bid or pass on a book by virtue of something as silly as a misused semi-colon, but such can often be the deciding factor between two otherwise equally qualified manuscripts.

Appearance counts.

Professionalism counts.

Go the extra mile. Ensure that your manuscript gets the expert attention it deserves to help it leap out of the slush pile. The potential payoff, both financially and personally, is well worth the investment.
