MatchBox Across America 50th Birthday Promo

McDonalds Promotion

Beginning in April of 2002, Happy Meals at McDonald's will include a special Matchbox model. There will be six different models aimed at kids as collection starters. McDonalds will also serve meals on 50 mi. tray liners decorated with Matchbox models. The promo will be backed with a $10 mi. TV ad. And for collectors who want the models in a box, go to the Mc Donald's web site at <mcdonalds.com> At this time it is not clear if these will be special cars or the State cars. With the meal they will come in the usual polybag..

"The experimentation comes at a time when McDonald's is trying to focus more on the quality of its food and less on promotions to draw customers into its restaurants. The company confirmed Thursday, for example, that it will not offer its popular Teenie Beanie Babies promotion this year. McDonald's has given away the toys with Happy Meals since 1997 in its most successful promotion ever."

It's already been announced in some of the Licensing Industry magazines that Burger King will be carrying a line of Lord of the Rings figs to coincide with the movie's release. Supposed to be full figures (You know, of the fast food kind) perhaps with some weapon or accessory.
