Hello! We are Bonnie and Joe, the owners of The Black Orchid Bookshop and sellers of mystery novels, both new and old. As fans of the great Rex Stout, we took our name from his Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin novel Black Orchids.

This website is intended to be an electronic newsletter, much like the paper-and-ink one that we snail mail and give out to our customers on Manhattan's Upper East Side. We promise to keep you up to date on store events and entertained with our reviews in the rave fave column.

This website will also be our first attempt at publishing a catalogue of our out-of-print and collectible books. Because we run the store with help from friends and family, we cannot list every single book in our shop. However, we hope to give you an idea of the wide selection of out-of-print books we carry, from rare first editions to ex-library books priced with the reader in mind. So call, write or e-mail us with your wants.
