About Demo AppMaker #13AppMaker is a programming tool that makes it faster and easier to make a Macintosh application - not just the user interface, but also the functional code. AppMaker saves development time and cuts drudgery by letting you create menus, windows, dialogs, and their contents just by clicking and dragging to arrange what you want on the screen. You also point and click to declare data structures and to connect UI items to data items. With one command, AppMaker automatically generates the source code for your design. AppMaker generates code and resources for C, C++, Pascal, PowerPlant, and Tools Plus. AppMaker also supports the OOFILE object I/O library and has preliminary support for Java. The Demo files are stored in StuffIt archives. Your Web browser may automatically expand an archive. Demo AppMaker (1.3 MB) is a fully functioning version of AppMaker with the limitation that it can't save files, and the generated code can't be compiled or linked because the library routines that come with the full AppMaker application are not included. It will request a registration number which is not needed for the Demo version. Just click Cancel. We built several Sample Applications (480 KB) using AppMaker: The Temperature example converts between Centigrade and Fahrenheit using a slider control, a thermometer display, and two edit fields. We added a total of four lines of code to make this application work. AMReminder is a larger example that is almost completely functional. We added a mere thirty or so lines of code. Gadgets shows many of the user interface items that AppMaker supports. LayerGroups demonstrates one of AppMaker's custom widgets that is especially useful and flexible. To save disk space we omitted PPC examples. (The 68K examples run perfectly well on a PPC machine.) The Generated Code (1.1 MB) archive contains generated code for C++, plain C, or Pascal using the Appearance API, or C++ using PowerPlant or Tools Plus. The code can't be compiled or linked without AppMaker's library routines - but you can read it to judge for yourself the quality of the generated code. The example applications are exactly as they were generated by AppMaker. Before generating, we wrote code fragments for AppMaker to insert into the generated code. We did not add any code afterwards. All of these demo files can be copied and used by you or others to evaluate the AppMaker application. For questions about AppMaker, contact Bowers Development Corp. at the address listed below. AppMaker's suggested retail price is $199; it comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee and free technical support. To compile and link AppMaker-generated source code, you must also have a Metrowerks, Symantec, or MPW language system and enough memory and disk space to meet the requirements of the language system.
