Hello Grant !

On Memorial Day '98 we moved the Pietenpol over to the airport and hung the wings. Sure feels nice to sit under the shade of a Piet wing.
About two more weeks of rigging, adding ailerons, elevators, instrument markings, etc. then the FAA inspection. Looking forward to getting this thing in the air !

All the best,
Michael

This may have been the shortest, and very BEST Memorial Day Parade of 1998!

A little flag on the A-65 crankshaft to show our respect for those who have served us in the military; and to make our own little Pietenpol Parade for the 1.5 mile ride to the hangar in Valley City.

The First Flight of NX48MC being videotaped by Karen Fandrich next to runway 18 at Valley City (Ohio) Airport, June 21, 1998.

Dear Grant !!!

I flew NX48MC for the first time this past weekend on Sunday evening around 8 pm. What a fun airplane this is going to be !! I did three takeoffs and landings and a little airwork to check stall speeds, cruise, etc. If my airspeed indicator is correct I cruise at 74 mph, stall begins at 35 mph and I assume it will break somewhat just below that.

I had to re-wrap the bungee chords twice to get them tight enough but now she bumps along just right. I'm hoping to keep the test flying going steady so I can make the trip to Brodhead and Oshkosh.

To others who are building- it will be all worth your troubles !

Best to you and yours, Michael

Hello Grant !

Well I had a nice surprise from my hangar owner and Cub pilot Brian Safran who took this nice air-to-air photo last weekend while Karen Fandrich took some video. Ahhh, what a feeling.

I hope the file isn't too big for you to use if you'd like. In fact I will send you several more of the first big day if you don't mind. Feel free to use or discard as you see fit ! Thanks for all the support and encouragement over these past several years- it has helped keep me going.

For now, Michael
