Kyle's Face

"Hello. My name is Kyle Ryner. I used to be just a regular guy from California when one day something happened that changed my life forever. It all started when something terrible happened to the old Green Lantern (Hal Jordon) and he flipped out and tried to destroy the universe. Somehow, I was chosen to replace him. Out of no where, a little blue guy in a red dress appears and hands me this ring. It took some time but now I'm glad it happened. I still have a lot to learn but what I lack in experience, I make up with enthusiasm. It seems that everyday I learn more about what it means to be a hero. The world of comics and heroes has changed in many ways, my friends, and I've been put here to make sure it all comes out alright."

Green LanternI used to be in to comics when I was much younger. About a month ago I was trying to get my daughter in to them and I picked up a copy of my old favorite, The Green Lantern. I was totally blown away. The writing and pictures are incredible. I have a question that I'd like to ask you. It seems that the stories that are presented in DC comic books are written with adults in mind. Things like problems with girl friends, the day job sucks, and other real life situations like miscarriages, divorce, ect. Was this always present? Was I just being 10 years old at the time and missed it? I think so. Let me make a proposal to you.

Get in to comics as a hobby. They are cheap, entertaining, and very collectable. They also have a very large presence on the internet. On any given weekend, I can dig up a buck fifty and go have a ball at the comic book store. The most recent issues are everywhere. The grocery store, 711, anywhere they sell magazines you'll find comic books. I enjoy them and they keep my imagination active. Have you seen what Aquaman looks like lately? Did you know that Superman died? Betty and Veronica still turning heads every month and Archie has yet to pick his sweet heart.

Below are some GL and other comic related links. I wish I had the time to create a comprehensive guide to the Green Lantern and the GL Corps (I'd probably get a lot of hits.) but it's already been done. Who knows, maybe someday I'll take a stab at it. Let me know if you decide to get in to comic books again and which heroes are your favorite. Have fun and let your imagination run wild.
