Beachfront Property was founded in 1984 at Long Beach City College in Southern California. Originally developed to perform exciting, multi-part arrangements of jazz and pop classics, the group quickly began winning festival competitions and performing clinics for state, national, and international music organizations such as the California Music Educators, the American Choral Directors Association and the International Association of Jazz Educators.  In 1989, they began recording with Cexton Records, a Southern California jazz label, and also started touring nationally. Their first CD, self entitled, "Beachfront Property," entered the jazz charts at number twelve on radio station WICN, Boston, MA, and number seventeen on station WNNC, Newton, NC.  The album was also released in Japan by Americana Records, Inc. in 1992.  Their second CD, "Straight Up," was released in 1993.  Their third CD, "A Beachfront Christmas," was released in December of 1995.  All CD's received excellent air play nationally.
