**Cornet Players!**
Diana Bradey (Bb Cornet) joins Cantium's Cornet Section……..more info to follow.
Lawrence Finemore returns to the band on Soprano. Loz stepped in at  the last minute to help out at a friend of the bands funeral at the end of February,  he enjoyed  playing the bands new Soprano so much, he can't get enough of us……..nice to have you back Loz.
Julia Prosser also joins the cornet section and is currently playing Rep Cornet, Jules is yet another
welcomed addition to the cornet Section.

**Latest News**  Laura Terry (2nd Cornet)
We are pleased to announce the new signing of Laura Terry from Wales. Laura will be
studying at the University of Kent at Canterbury  on a 4 year course however the third year will be spent on location in Spain. Laura has played 2nd Cornet in the Greater Gwent Band  and has also played 1st Cornet with the Abergavenny Band. Last night Laura treated us to a lovely solo performance of Grieg's "Spring",……….. well done Laura.

Brian Cunningham
Things are definitely looking up for Cantium Brass as last night saw the arrival of yet
another new face……….Brian Cunningham. Brian originally came from Ireland but now resides in Folkestone. He  spent 20 years in the Army retiring as a Warrant Officer Bandmaster. He now has a new profession Managing a local Doctors Surgery. Brian is a
welcomed addition to the band and joins Gordon in the Euphonium Section and hopes to persuade some of his past colleagues to join the band. Well done at last nights rehearsal Brian, a truly admirable performance, can't wait for "Softly as I leave You"……………..

FRIENDS' DAY - SATURDAY 24TH JULY 2004
CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARCHIVES BUILDING.
4.15pm   Afternoon Tea will be held in the Deanery Garden (Canterbury  Cathedral) with a choice of tea or coffee and a selection of traditional cakes: Victoria Sponge, Fruit Cake and Brownies.  During tea the Cantium Brass  Band will entertain you with a lovely programme of light music. ……………….£5.50

**NEW**  Monday 12th July saw the arrival of new cornet player Jonathan Williams. Jonathan has just completed his studies at York University where he was a music scholar. He has just  moved back to the area to live with his parents whilst seeking work in Music Publishing or Administration. Jonathan is a Trumpet/Flugel Player and has his own Trad Jazz Band which regularly plays at the York Race Course. 
Jonathan recently guested with Gawthorpe Brass at the Whit Friday Marches……….Hopefully Jonathan will provide a full profile at a later date!

Cantium Brass are please to welcome back David Barker to the Cornet & Percussion section after a few years break. We would also like to congratulate Gareth Rowe on completing his Business Management studies at Wye College…….iIt's great having you back Gareth.
We would also like to take this opportunity in welcoming new players, Adam Smith Bass Trombone, Adele Tremenheere on BBb Bass and Dave Strickland on Baritone.  Sharon Pearce, Geraint Barnes  and Jonathan Williams will also be joining the band over the next few weeks and will be a welcomed addition to the cornet section!

On Saturday 11th October, Cantium Brass performed for the Kent Ambulance Service - Awards Ceremony at St Georges Centre, Chatham Maritime. This has become quite a regular event for the band and the acoustics in St Georges were as good as ever. This venue must surely rank amongst some of the finest in the Country. It was the ideal opportunity to show off the new Trombone Section with a splendid rendition of "Trombones to the Fore". Pictured left to right: Ian Bottle, Nigel Weeden & Alan Wardle.
