LaBelle's Byte Size Bits BBS Bulletin Board System

The late Jean Prophet operated LaBelle's only online electronic Bulletin Board System, operating at first in the Miami area in 1987. Jean was one of the very first Southwest Florida Online™ advertisers, and supporters of LaBelle's first online news and information webpages. BBS systems were the forerunner of the world wide web that is now the main communication system around the world. Jean's BBS system offered 24/7 free computer file downloads, e-mail, and online messages. In those early days there were no graphics online, just text messaging and software sharing and downloading from person to person.

Jean also started LaBelle's first horse drawn buggy service, catering to weddings and other special events. She lived on a LaBelle ranch with her family, four horses, a cow and lots of chickens, ducks, and geese and Jean was active in the LaBelle Family Livestock Club and wrote their newsletter.
