Summer
By Dana Strever-Nichols 7/98

The warm Summer days
bring a smile to my face;
put a spring in my step,
add a quickening pace.

I love to sip tea
in the warm Summer sun;
kick back and relax
and laugh and have fun.

A walk by the lake
or a hike on a trail;
The breeze on my face
from a warm Summer gale.

The smell of the flowers
wafting in the breeze;
The song from a bird
and the buzzing of bees.

The view of a deer
with a fawn in the field;
The fish on a hook
on a line that is reeled.

The music and laughter
of kids playing games,
with an occasional snicker
from a child calling names.

The refreshing water
of a Summertime pool;
or a sit in the shade
to help me stay cool.

Ah, the joys of Summer
and the warmth of the sun;
Put my mind at ease
and make my body numb.
