I know you'll want to click
to
see pictures of my pet bunny rabbits:
-
Check out the House
Rabbit Resource Network! Click here: HRRN
-
Pet rabbit slaves should also check out the LISTSERV called PETBUNNY.
Rabbit news in your e-mail every day, with 100 or more entries daily (warning:
volume can get ridiculous sometimes - if you decide to sign up for this
mailing list, consider the "digest" option.)

This
is a very, very, very relaxed Sniffy - with Steve, a Master Bunny-Trancer!
Are you, for some
insane reason, looking for cross-stitch patterns of rabbits? I've
made a list of
the patterns I have. (Please note: I do NOT make photocopies
of copyrighted materials. This list is here so you can ask your local needlework
shop to order the material from the publisher for you! Photocopying copyrighted
materials without permission of the author and publisher is illegal.)

I
also have a cockatiel, The Beak, and a cat, Pickle. Pickle came to us last December (2001) after our
two elderly cats, Nimbus and Cocopuff, passed away at 16-17 years of age.

Hobbies and other stuff
I'm a member
of Lonestar Mensa, the central Texas chapter of American Mensa, Ltd. Mensa
is an organization of people with - ahem - high IQ's. Now, mind you, all
that means is that we are people who score well on multiple choice tests.
So, I am not particularly bragging. However, it is a nice bunch of people,
and a good social group. Steve and I host Mensa Games Night each month,
and one can find a good game of Scrabble, Pictionary, or Rummy-Q. If you
are interested in finding out more about Mensa, click here: Home
page of Lonestar Mensa (the local chapter), or Home
Page of American Mensa Ltd. (the national organization).
I enjoy:
-
classical music. Our local non-profit, listener-supported classical radio
station is
KMFA - check it out! If you
listen, join!!
-
folk - did you know The Limelighters are still around? They have a new
album out in 2000!
-
humor - Tom Lehrer! Anna Russell! Gilbert & Sullivan! The Foremen!
Ken Nordine! Austin Lounge Lizards! PDQ Bach!
I also enjoy making music - I play tenor sax in our community band, the
Austin Symphonic Band. I met my husband in the ASB - he plays the tuba.
Check out TubaChristmas!
Click here for concert schedules, ticket information, and information
about the Austin Symphonic Band.
I like:
-
murder mysteries - favorites include Margaret Frazer's Dame Frevisse series,
Susan Rogers Cooper's E.J. Pugh series, Bill Crider's several series set
in Texas, and D.J. Meredith's series, ditto.
-
science fiction - current favorite authors include Lois McMasters Bujold,
Connie Willis; all-time favorites are Isaac Asimov, Larry Niven, Ursula
LeGuin.
-
other fiction - OK, let's be honest, actually, historical romances. Regency,
to be even more specific. Don't knock 'em if you haven't tried 'em!
-
humor - Kevin & Kell,
User
Friendly, Sherman's
Lagoon, and other strips. Ask me about my collection of comic strip
collections!
-
science fact - Natural History, Discover, Science, The Sciences, American
Scientist, Scientific American, and other journals.
I also read junk mail!
I'm a
member of the Austin Area Quilt Guild. I also do cross-stitch, knitting,
crocheting, weaving, needlepoint, and other crafts projects.
- Pictures of quilts and needlework I have made!
- Pictures of my homemade
holiday ornaments

The Big, Funny-Looking Yellow House
In 1996,
we bought a house built in 1919. (For Austin, that's old!) It had been
used as a rental property for many years - used hard and put away wet -
and we've just started the process of repairing it and renovating bits
of it, and restoring it. Now we subscribe to and Old
House Journal, Renovation Style, American
Bungalow and so on. We look at remodeling magazines and browse home-improvement
stores for fun. We buy Dover Books reprints of house catalogs from the period, Fun!
See full-size pictures of the house and
read a bit about it.
