SCHOLARSHIPS/FREE MONEY!!!!!

Educational Communications Scholarship Foundation:

· Students who are U.S. citizens and plan to take the SAT/ACT exam may compete

· $1,000 awards to be used toward tuition or loans at an accredited four-year school

· Deadline is May 31st , 2000

NATAS Trustee Scholarship Application:

· Seniors- must have taken the SAT or ACT by October 30, 1999

· $30,000 scholarship to be awarded to those pursuing a degree in communications

· List GPA, creative work description, honors/AP courses, two required essays, etc.

· Deadline is December 8, 1999

Leysin American School in Switzerland/ The Fred and Sigrid Ott Scholarships:

· Candidates must be pursuing an International Baccalaureate Diploma

· Enrolled in challenging and/or advanced courses, contributed in community service and extra curricular activities, high SAT/ACT score

· Renewable scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $5,000 to $10,000

National Academy of American Scholars/ Easley National Scholarship:

· Seniors who exhibit excellence and outstanding character, have a C or higher G.P.A. and completes the SAT/ACT are eligible

· Annual four-year scholarship ranging from $2,000 to$10,000

· Deadline is February 1, 2000 www.naas.org

National Alliance for Scholastic Achievement:

· Seniors - G.P.A. of at least 2.75 and completion of the SAT/ACT test are eligible

· Letter of recommendation from teacher or school official is required

· Five level of awards ranging from $2,000 to $15,000 based on G.P.A.

Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards Program:

· Students interested in mathematics, science and technology can enter the competition.

· Top student winners receive $10,000 U.S. Savings Bonds; runner-ups receive $5,000 U.S. Savings Bonds. 2,000 students will receive honorable mention prizes.

Astramed Physicians Essay Competition:

· Students ages 12-16 years old are invited to submit a 150 word essay on Self Esteem and Success

· 1st place prize-$100; 2nd place prize-$75; 3rd place prize-$50 . Gift certificate awards.

· Judging will take place November 12th at the Linden Office

2000 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program/Design Competition:

· Students who submit a design entry must be hand drawn (no copies or traced work!!)

· Official entry form must be completed, signed and glued on the back . One entry only!!

Tools for Tomorrow:

· Students in grades 10-12 enrolled or participated in vocational technical education may apply

· Must possess character, leadership, involvement in vocational student organizations

National Essay Contest on Korea:

· All students can submit an essay on the significance of the Korean War in given terms.

· Judgment based on originality, creativity, clarity, style and evidence of a serious research effort.

· Grand Prize-$500 plus a one week trip for two to Korea; First Prize(2)-$500;Second Prize (5)-$250; Third Prize(5)-$100.

· Deadline is February 29, 2000

The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest:

· Students that are citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the U.S. may apply

· Prepared Oration must be on some phase of the Constitution of the United States.

· 1st place-$18,000; 2nd place-$16,000; 3rd place-$14,000

SCHOOLS REWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS

Adirondack Scholars Program/SUNY at Potsdam:

· 18 selections based upon standardized test scores, academic promise, and potential

· Minimum SAT score-1050; ACT score-23. All rewards are renewable with a 3.25 GPA 1(315)267-2180

· Admission application and seventh semester grades are due by February 15, 2000

Rider University:

· Students applying to Rider will automatically receive scholarship opportunities if qualifications and criteria are met. Nine types of awards are being offered.

Devry Institute:

· Dean’s Scholarships- ACT/SAT scores of 24/1100 to receive $1,000 per term

· Presidential Scholarships-Seniors who submit qualifying ACT/SAT scores will be considered for full-tuition. Activities outside and inside of school are also required.

· Deadline for Dean’s-December 17, 1999 for scholarships to be awarded in January 2000; February 18, 2000 for scholarships to be awarded in March 2000

· Deadline for Presidential’s- ACT/SAT scores must be postmarked or faxed by March 13, 2000

Seton Hall University:

· Take advantage of their scholarship opportunities. To be eligible, submit an application for admission to Seton Hall University.

Oswego/SUNY:

· Over $2,000,000 in Presidential and Merit Scholarships will be awarded to students entering in the fall of 2000. All awards are renewable each year for 4 years.

· If you have a B+ average or better, 1100 SAT(24 ACT) or are ranked in the top 10%-15% of your class, you are eligible for scholarship consideration.
