Mission Our mission is to provide our student body with the essential academic and professional skills required for achieving success in their career and college choices. We aspire to integrate their academic knowledge with skills necessary for the business world. The school is the vehicle that will aid in focusing students energy in a positive direction, help students explore career opportunities, and provide students with learning tools for success. In order for our schools mission to be realized, the educational community must involve students, parents, staff, business organizations and community leaders. Throughout their high school careers students will obtain work experience, be given internships, and be able to take college courses both at the school and college sites. The school currently has College Now programs with Queensborough Community College and York College where students take classes at the college to receive both college and high school credit. The school has a partnership with Queens Child Guidance Services. At- risk students are mentored during the school day and receive additional tutoring services. All of our pupils are registered in an academic program that will prepare them for the Regents examinations that they are required to pass in order to receive a diploma. Opportunities that are provided to enhance students academic skills through activities such as the Debate Team, Newspaper Club, Website Club, Leadership class, and vocal, instrumental and artistic enrichment programs. The Business, Computer Applications & Entrepreneurship Magnet High School has an eleventh and twelfth grade Cooperative Education Program where students alternate between school and work. Students are also given the opportunity to earn credit by working after school and enrolling in our part-time Cooperative Education Program. In addition, the school has a program with Junior Achievement program in which students teach elementary school students in the community. Students in the eleventh and twelfth grades can enroll in our Virtual Enterprise program. We have two established businesses, Office Supplies Enterprise, Inc. and Party Over Here, Inc. The students are given the opportunity to learn and operate a business in a simulated office environment. Other students may enroll in our Retail Institute program through which we sell merchandise to the entire school community through an established store located in the school. Many students at the Business Magnet High School have been involved with The Future Business Leaders of America and Distributive Education Club of America organizations in which they participate in city and statewide competitions as well as community projects. As participants in the Project Smart program, all of our pupils have the opportunity to use computers in our labs and in our regular classes. We continue to work with all our pupils to achieve our goals of student achievement.
