The Story
Some nights, he works as the lensman for a blackmail crew, bursting into cheap motel rooms with a sleazy private detective, snapping tawdry pictures of startled johns in bed with a hooker named Lorraine. Who these johns are, why they are being blackmailed, and by whom, is of no concern to Scardino. He just takes the pictures. Collects a paycheck. And doesn't think about it.
Suddenly, in Scardino's police work, the members of his blackmail crew begin showing up as corpses in seemingly unrelated homicides--each more gruesome than the last. Scardino cannot reveal the pattern to the cops without admitting his own involvement in a criminal enterprise. And he snaps away. Who could the killer be? Over the years, he's taken pictures of hundreds of blackmail targets. The killer could be anyone. Anyone. Even Alice, the wryly witted woman of mystery Scardino met at Burger Clown, and for whom he might be falling. And so, after years of looking through the lens, but not really seeing, Scardino must rediscover his lost humanity and become keenly aware of the world around him ...because his life depends on it!
JOHNNY SKIDMARKS is a quirkily plotted tale of sardonically humored suspense told with hard-boiled dialogue against a noirish urban landscape of lost souls. Featuring riveting performances by some of today's most dynamic actors, JOHNNY SKIDMARKS provides all of the surprise of a sucker punch, all of the thrill of a night ride on a roller coaster, and all of the ocular trauma of Un Chien Andalou.
