The citizen-soldiers who fought for the Confederacy personified the best qualities of America. The preservation of liberty and freedom was the motivating factor in the South's decision to fight the second American Revolution. The tenacity with which Confederate soldiers fought underscored their belief in the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

If you are interested in perpetuating the ideals that motivated your Confederate ancestor, the SCV needs you. The memory and reputation of the Confederate Soldier, as well the motives for his suffering and sacrifice, are being consciously distorted by some in an attempt to alter history. Unless decendants of Southern soldiers resist those efforts, a unique part of our nation's cultural heritage will cease to exist.

The CHARGE as spoken by
General Stephen Dill Lee
New Orleans Louisiana April 24, 1906
"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength wil be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which made him glorious, and which you also cherish. Remember it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations."

Proposed changes - This constitution may be amended by any Division Convention by a v two-thirds (2/3) vote of authorized voting Delegates in attendance.

Children of the Confederacy
The Children of the Confederacy is an auxiliary of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for children birth till 18 years of age. This organization provides an atmosphere where children with a similar background and heritage can come together and learn about more about their heritage. I encourage Compatriots with young children or grandchildren to get them involved as early as possible. The Lynn Rudd Chapter 859, meets the 2nd Sunday of the month at the Goodwood Library at 2:00 PM. For more information call Clay Ainsworth.
