The Crackstone family
was from Colchester, Essex, England, according to the marriage record of
John's daughter Anna. Robert Wakefield found a John Crackstone listed in
the lay subsidy roll of 1523, in the Parish of St. James, Colchester, and
this may be one of John's ancestors. A Margaret, daughter of William Crackstone,
was baptized on 6 April 1569 in Colchester. These are the only records that
have been found of Crackstone's in Colchester.
Since the children of Anna, if she had any, have not yet been identified, it is possible that there are descendants of John Crackstone living today in The Netherlands.
