William Bradford kept a letter-book, in which he wrote down copies of all the significant letters he wrote or received. The book was plundered during the Revolutionary War, and was discovered in Halafax, Nova Scotia in the 1790s, being used as wrapping paper in a fish market. What was left of the book was saved.. Most letters relate to colony business agreements with the Merchant Adventurers, or social letters with members of the Leyden congregation, but often diverge into many subjects.
