David Breitman bio
Personal Representation:
Life is triply generous when one is as beautiful as Mary Costa and then is able to possess a ravishing instrument and have enough kilowatts of warmth and energy to light the way on or off the stage. She remains as unique as only an American diva can be. She began her career on television and as the voice of Sleeping Beauty in the classic Disney film. She went on to become a legend in the operatic world, starring at the Metropolitan, San Francisco Opera, Covent Garden and the Bolshoi. At the same time she had major successes in light opera, made several Hollywood films and guest appearances on all of the great television variety specials and set out season after season for the kind of concert and opera tours that the great stars made years ago.
In1999 Miss Costa
received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation . In November 1999, she received the Disney Legends Award - her handprints are now a permanent part of Disney Legends Plaza at the entrance to the Disney Studios. She received the Metropolitan Opera Guild recognition for distinguished Verdi performances of the 20th century in 2001. In April 2003, Mary Costa was appointed by President Bush to the National Council on the Arts, which advises the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts.
