We often add to our website so check back to see more photos from our previous vacationers.
If you have been on our trips or just have a good canal picture, send it to us at
canaltours@aol.com (jpg please) and we'll put it on the website. A Europe that so few visitors experience.
Meet real people in their own haunts at cafes, pubs and markets.
Our small group cruises are a soft adventure. No two tours are ever the same. You decide what your
interests are and we take it from there. We supply breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Arrange special cruises for your group. Celebrate anniversaries with
your family and friends. Make your retreat or incentive cruise really different.
ENGLAND/WALES

Feedback from our vacationing crews has encouraged us to allow more time in Llangollen at the end
of the canal in the heart of Wales. The Llangollan Canal is regarded as one of the most beautiful canals
in the UK as it winds around hills and valleys.
We moor at pubs, villages and towns. There really is singing in the valleys in this
music-steeped land. The ancient churches still hold their congregations
of choristers known throughout the world. England and Wales have suffered from slander and libel
as to their gastronomic delights.
The pubs along the canals in England are probably the best in the
world. Pub grub is tasty, filling and served in delightfully friendly
surroundings.
There are two tourist trap type stores (say that quickly after a
skinful) in Llangollen, good for silly things to take home as presents.
The rest of the town is a delight, a beautiful and peaceful place.
FRANCE

Mature trees line the beautiful Canal Du Midi (built in the 1670's) and give shade as we drift past
ancient towns and villages in the French countryside. The surplus sun soaks the adjoining vineyards
and is reflected in the wine. We visit the Caves (where the barrels are stored) and taste
outstanding examples of the vintners' art. Even house plonk in the cafes is wine you dream of.
You don't touch alcohol? No problem as the French have beautiful coffee and non-alcoholic drinks.
IRELAND
Photos of Ireland to be added Ireland ; whether rain or shine, this promises to be a beautiful
relaxing trip meeting some of the most friendly people on earth. We
meander through unspoiled countryside and become part of what other
people go to Ireland to see, the local scenery. It's as good as life
gets!
What's to say about Ireland? We were on the Grand Canal when Bin Laden attacked. The Irish wept
with us and gave warmth. We were with friends as you will be. Ireland where we head offers peace
and tranquility. Food sometimes has to be prepared on board as regular dining out is still being
developed in the outback where we chug along through the old bogs and rolling sheep pastures. We
try to make sure we hit a Celtic evening where we will be the only foreigners in a tiny pub with
just us and the locals. This is the Ireland of romance and peace.
SCOTLAND
Photo Loch Ness and also Nessy
Scotland The Brave Clean air, sheep-clad hills and the monster. We have failed to spot him yet but next time we promise a definite maybe. Loch Ness provide photo oportunities so while you shoot, we relax. Don't forget your camera. The Scottish pipes will be heard even if he's a busker. Who knows what we'll see on the Lochs!
Scotland can be a caricature of itself. Kilts, pipes, castles to keep out the wild English, single
malt whisky and a chance of seeing Nessy. Steep-sided Loch Ness and a castle perched on an island
are for real, Disney didn't plant this scenery of mellow hills and morning mists.
AQN Canal Tours provides once in a lifetime vacations (which our guests often repeat!)
Our soft adventure canal trips require a little assistance if you feel so inclined.
Take the helm, help at the locks or just kick back. We do breakfast on board and try for lunch
and dinner at local pubs and cafes. This gives a true feel for the country. We suggest that you bring spending money for pub drinks and trinkets to take home.
Some boats may look old but have beds, bathrooms, showers and fully equipped kitchens.
We recommend that you travel a day or two before the trip starts to
give your body time to adjust as jet lag is for real. Add a day on at the end for
transportation from the boat to the airport. We enjoy B & Bs for accommodations and we
we can assist you in locating places to stay.
