Fun Facts and Assorted Tidbits!

Because of her strenuous activities, Candy's weight dropped from
135lbs. to 90lbs. She had to eat constantly to maintain a weight
of approximately 115lbs. During her shows, she would lose several
pounds a night, only to have them back on by the next day. At the
end of her NY World's Fair shows in 1965, statisticians figured
that she had taken off 7,000lbs. during those first four years of
her career!

After a 20-minute session of non-stop dancing onstage, a doctor
attending a convention of heart specialists at the El Mirador in
Palm Springs, checked Candy's pulse and exclaimed to the crowd,
'Her pulse is completely normal!'. Somewhat dazed, he retreated
to his room to write an article about her for a medical journal!

 
 
 

In the '60s, Candy's uncle, Jim Rathmann, became the top
money-maker in Indianapolis Speedway history when he
collected $110k in 1960 for winning that years 'classic'.
His older brother, Dick, had also made record-breaking
runs at both Indianapolis and Daytona Beach raceways!

Setting records of another kind, Candy's favorite aunt,
Nell Ketchun, loved to go to nightclubs in her town of
Tampa, FL and do a fast twist. She was in her mid 80s!
