CARON AND COMPANY

For the past several years I, Carlton A. Caron have
worked as a CPA for various companies as well as myself
as an auditor, tax preparer, financial advisor, chief financial
officer and generally as an accountant in a variety of positions.
Having held a CPA Certificate since 1955, I now have a more
limited practice, and no longer accept audit engagements, and
I devote most of my time to tax preparation, and to assisting
clients who are entitled to refunds of either Federal or State taxes.

I have recently concluded a claim for refund whereby my
client has received over $400,000 in refunds on overpaid Federal
and Mass. Estate taxes. I do not accept engagements in which I
do not believe the claim is valid, nor where I think that recovery
is in doubt.

Many people overpay their tax, for a variety of reasons. In
most cases where taxpayers prepare the return themselves, unless
the return is a very simple wage-earner return, and especially if
there is an opportunity to itemize deductions, there is a strong
possibility that refunds are available. Other situations which
suggest the possibility of refunds are: (a) Returns prepared by
well meaning friends; (b) Returns prepared by unqualified and
improperly trained tax preparers; (c) Returns with complic-
ations, such as high medical expenses, losses of one kind or
another, and gain on sales of property received by inheritance;
(d) Married persons filing separately, when they should be filing
jointly.

You have up to three years to file a claim for refund. That
is, three years from the date the return was filed. For a 1998
return, filed on April 15, 1999, you have until April 15, 2002 to
file an amended return. And if you are entitled to a refund, you
will receive the refund together with interest at 8% from
April 15, 1999.

We have developed a check list which you access from our home
page which you can use to see whether there is a possibility that you
have a refund coming. Remember that for a 1996 return filed in
1997 you have until April 15, 2000 to file the claim for refund. If
you have filed the return on an extension you have until three years
from the date the return was timely filed.

If you feel that you may have overpaid your tax for any
year after 1995, we will ask you to send us a copy of that return.
We will redo the return by computer, and compare the results
with your originally filed return. If we agree with the original
return, and find no refund due there is a charge of $20 for this
service. We will send you one copy of each return and close the
file.

If we find that there is an opportunity for refund, we will
provide you with the details and ask your permission to prepare
an amended return. Our charge for the amended return will be
20% of the amount recovered, including interest. We will refund
the original $20.00 fee.

We can supply references if desired.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to
contact us.
