Time changes everything but there's one thing that stood the test of time...

Despite its fertile culture, Kawit remains an enigmatic beauty to everyone. Known for its rich cultural heritage and tradition, this town of Cavite (Philippines) has maintained the annual celebration of MAYTINIS every 24th December.

Few people know the significance of this event and the real meaning of this occasion. The word "Maytinis" was derived from a prayer "assaying the Nativity of the Lord Jesus Christ." It's a tradition widely practiced by the Catholics of Kawit under the auspices of the Parish priest and the "Confradia de Sagrada Familia."

This personal home page is lovingly dedicated to our beloved mother (deceased), Nanay Edy.

Special thanks to Confradia de Sagrada Familia of Kawit, Cavite and to Fr. L. Paguiligan for allowing me to publish their articles about MAYTINIS. Thank you also to all my sisters, most especially to Carol, for their support. Same goes to our family friend, Dr. F. Aquino.
