Francisco Rovira Beleta's  El Amor Brujo (1965)  103'

Antonio Gades, La Polaca, Rafael de Córdova, Cristina Hoyos.

Guitarras de Narciso Yepes y  CAMARON de la Isla

El Amor Brujo was a one act ballet composed by Manuel de Falla especially for Pastora Imperio based on a story by Gregorio Martinez Sierra and saw its debut in Madrid in 1915. In a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the ballet, Rovira-Beleta directed this movie version in 1965 following his masterful direction in 1963 of Los Tarantos with Carmen Amaya. Candela (which in Saura's El Amor Brujo was portrayed by Cristina Hoyos) is played here by La Polaca. And Carmelo is played by Antonio Gades, as in Saura's movie. Cristina Hoyos appears in a small cameo role here. Rafael de Córdova, a great Flamenco bailaor, plays the role of the dead lover.
