Inuyasha

Inuyasha is one of Cartoon Network's latest anime offerings to catch my interest. The series features Kagome Higurashi who is unwittingly transported back in time to the warring states era of feudal Japan. There she comes across Inuyasha, a half-human, half-demon boy in suspended animation and bound to a tree by a magic spell. She sets him free and together they set out on a cross-country adventure to recover pieces of a magic jewel that she unknowingly once had in her possession. The magic jewel is highly coveted by demons and evil humans, so what does Inuyasha want to do with it? Later Kagome is able to travel freely between her own time and the warring states era, and she has to come up with elaborate excuses to explain her absences from school.

Inuyasha stares off into the distance while Kagome sadly looks on in the background. Kagome seems full of sorrow, perhaps because Inuyasha is starting to slip away from her at this point in the show. (Adapted from the third ending animation)
Kagome intently watches the battle between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru (Episode 7 - Showdown! Inuyasha vs. Sesshomaru)
Hmmm...so the answer is A, B, C, or D none of the above? Kagome is deep in thought--not about the lesson at hand, but about Inuyasha (Episode 20 - Despicable Villain! The Mystery of Onigumo!)
Kagome blushes while daydreaming at school about Inuyasha. The original sketch was scanned at a low resolution, so it's a little bit jaggy (Episode 20 - Despicable Villain! The Mystery of Onigumo!)
"Huh??" Kagome shows a puzzled look as she is stopped in midstep when she senses a piece of the Shikon jewel at home. Kagome has the ability to track down the jewel shards...an ability that Inuyasha could definitely benefit from, even though he is repulsed by her (at least so he says) (Episode 21 - Naraku's True Identity Revealed)
