Wave Motion: Resonance Tube Apparatus
Using an audio frequency generator and a large glass tube filled with water, the user can demonstrate the actual length of a sound wave (that is, in terms of a 1/4 or 3/4 of a wavelength) as simulated in the movie frame below. An additional QuickTime movie illustrates the VIBRATO EFFECT which an instructor can use to tune an audio frequency generator to a tuning fork in order to perform this experiment.
