Thanks for joining us!!!
These student interns discovered us via our web site. As a matter of fact, the interns from the University of Central Michigan chose our Singer Island Turtle Group as the most popular non-profit group to intern with during Spring Break and, this year, during the summer months too.
The 2001 volunteers stayed at the girl Scout Camp, Welaka, in Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Every morning they accompanied one of our experienced volunteers to conduct the daily nesting survey. After monitoring our beach, the students headed to MacArthur Beach State Park to work some more and have lunch before heading up to the Juno MarineLife Center for the rest of the afternoon.
The student interns were here from March 4-8th, 2001. One of the students, from France, came back to join us for an additional week in May and stayed with the League President, Debbie Sobel during that time. She worked with Debbie on beach monitoring every morning and then spent the afternoons at the Juno MarineLife Center.
It was an exciting time for us and for the interns and we are very much looking forward to having them with us again, especially during the summer months in when nesting activity reaches its' peak.
If you are interested in pursuing an internship with our Singer Island group, send us an E-mail and we will respond immediately.

Summer 2004
Students from the University of Central Michigan's Summer Alternative Break Program will be here from August 18th through August 25th. Just as in past summers, the student volunteers will join us every morning to monitor the beach for new nests and they will also spend time at the MarineLife Center in Juno Beach and at MacArthur Beach State Park. It's always great to have the students join us. They bring such enthusiasm and idealism to their internships; they are a pleasure to work with.
The summer of 2003 marked the third year in which we welcomed a group of summer interns from the University of Central Michigan. The student interns, Julie, Scott, Lynette, Robbie, Melanie, Sara, Meghan, Sarah & Charlene, arrived for a week on the 15th of August. They came on their Alternative Summer Break Program to work with our group again. They were a wonderful help and a lot of fun to have around and it was a great learning experience for the students and for us as well.
We were fortunate during 2001 to have an initial group of student interns working with us as we monitored the Singer Island beach. These hardworking, enthusiastic volunteers came from various locations around the United States including from the University of Central Michigan. We also had a young man from England working with us for a while and a young woman from France who joined us twice for beach monitoring.
