Discussion

Based on the early Brooklyn directories, Aaron Michaels (111 Union in 1863-5) and Morris Michaels (111 Union Place in 1872), they are likely related (brothers?) if the two addresses are the same. Union Ave. was in Greenpoint, parallelling Franklin, partially became Union Place in the 1870s, and later was named Manhattan Ave. 106 & 111 Union Place were in the same block, between Freeman and Eagle. In 1868, Morris is listed as on Union near Eagle; then in 1870, at Union Place near Freeman, which could be the same address.

Although it is possible that the Michaels listed in the Brooklyn directory at 260 Atlantic were part of the Annie Michaels family, they are almost certainly members of Humphry Michaels family (1880 census, from England, wife Anna, children Rebecca, Sophia, Lillie, Joseph, Morris, and Aaron J - ages fit when their names appear in directories at expected years). Probably coincidentally, Robert Dressler (father of the husband of Annie Michaels) and Humphrey Michaels lived within a couple of houses of each other around 1865.

At the time of her marriage in 1888, Annie Michaels and her husband George Dressler were both living at 309 Manhattan Ave., Brooklyn, which is the same address at which Ernestine Michaels died in 1890 and the address of Abraham Michaels in 1889.

From 1891 to 1894, George Dressler was living at 86 Clinton Ave., Brooklyn. Abraham Michaels, brother to George's wife Ann Michaels also appears at 86 Clinton in 1891. Isaac Michaels lives there through at least 1910, which is when Morris G. Michaels also appears. Morris G. is Isaac's son.
