Below are some of the advantages
ChitChat! has to offer over the standard UNIX talk:
- Multiple Party Conferencing... Like
ytalk on UNIX, multiple parties can converse
simultaneously. Standard UNIX talk only supports
one on one conversations.
- Respond at a press of a button... With
UNIX talk programs, when one receives a call,
they have to type "talk user@bla.bla.bla"
to respond to the call. With ChitChat!,
all you have to do is click "Talk".
Save a Session... ChitChat!
allows you to easily save a conversation to a
file.
- Personal Options... With ChitChat!,
you can define a sound to play when someone
calls. You can also change the font and color of
your window. If the other party is also using ChitChat!,
the font and color of your talk window on the
other party's computer will be synchronized to
your settings.
- Caller History... ChitChat!
maintains a list of users who called you, or you
called so that you can quickly call them back.
- Speed Dial... The speed dial allows you
to define groups of parties. With a click, ChitChat!
can either establish a conference among everyone
in the group, or just a given individual.
Tool Tips and Descriptions...
Unlike the cryptic UNIX, ChitChat!
offers tool tips, descriptive text, and toolbars
to aid you in its usage.
- Web Dial... If you have a space where
you can put up your own web pages, and it is
accessible via FTP, ChitChat! can also
automatically upload a page containing your
current computer location to it. This is useful
if you have a dynamic IP address which changes
often. Other talk users can use a browser to look
at the page. ChitChat! users can type
the URL to the page directly into the "user@address"
box to call you.
