Painting A Model 98

I have painted my Model 98 red and it has turned out fine.  But I am repainting metallic blue, because it is a little bit darker.  I am not responsible for you ruining your gun.  But it has worked for me, so just try your best and take your time!  Pictures of my painted gun are in the Model 98 Owners Group Gallery.

1)  Soak gun in Paint thinner (homedepot)

2)  After about 30 minutes wipe it off

3)  Let dry for 24 hours

4)  Use steel wool over gun lightly to make gun rough (wipe steel off that was kept on gun)

5)  Spray a layer of primer over entire gun (homedepot)

6)  Let dry for 24 hours

7)  Use steel wool again extremely lightly (again wipe it off with a cloth)

8)  Now spray Rustoleum Premium over gun (homedepot) make sure to pick out a good color cuz this is what your gun will look like.

9)  Let dry for 24 hours.

10)  Now use a automotive clear coat to protect gun. (available at almost any car part store)
